YES They Do Move!!

It's surprising to many people to learn that the bones of the head (cranium) and face can actually move.  That being said, they can also be "knocked out of place".

The cranial bones that make up the head, face and jaw can easily become misaligned from head injuries such as, car accidents and sports injuries (think about football and boxing – yikes!)   Doesn’t it seem likely that a blow to the head during an automobile accident or sporting event, for example, could easily misalign the cranial bones?

If the bones in the skull do misalign, blood and nerve supply that would normally pass through the holes in the base of the skull are interfered with.  So many side effects can occur from this situation.  Many people will experience dysfunction in the way their sinuses, eyes, ears, and/or throat function.

In many cases, pain is a primary complaint of a cranial misalignment.  For example, the classical migraine headache is caused when the sphenoid bone in the skull being is out of alignment with the bones surrounding it.

Misalignments to the bones in the skull also cause direct pressure on the brain, which decreases the brain's ability to function. By detecting and correcting any misalignments of the cranial bones we've been able to help so many people get well and stay well.

Why Cranial Adjusting?

In July of 2002, Dr. Karen Gardner Bagnell was rear-ended in an automobile accident.  She suffered a slight concussion and whiplash injury.  She also suffered some minor cuts and abrasions on her head and face.  About one year later, Dr. Karen's vision went blurry.  She describes it looks the same as "when you see heat rising off of a hot street in the distance, all wavy and blurry".

This visual disturbance is called an aura.  For several years, Dr. Karen would have this aura, and after being reassured via MRI and x-ray that there was no other cause for this visual disturbance (like a tumor or M.S.) she was diagnosed with "Ophthalmic Migraines"  The aura without the pain of a migraine.  A few years passed and then the pain started; mild at first then progressively worsened over time.

Keep in mind that Dr. Karen avoided food triggers and received regular chiropractic care, but still suffered incessantly with debilitating migraines that would regularly last for 2-3 days with no relief...until she started getting cranial week done.

Within 4 hours of  her first cranial adjustment, she started to feel better.  Now, with regular cranial monitoring and adjusting, if needed, she is migraine free.  Knowing the impact this has made on her life and that of her family, she has diligently studied cranial adjusting so she may be able to help others achieve a life without pain.

Cranial adjustments do not hurt.  There is no sound made like when your spine is adjusted.  It involves gentle pressure on the bones of the face, head and jaw.  Some muscle work may be needed as well which also is not painful.  It is, generally, a very relaxing experience.  Some people even fall asleep!

Allow Dr. Karen's knowledge, expertise and personal experience help you through the amazing techniques of cranial adjusting.

Who would benefit from Cranial Adjustments?

  • Anyone who has suffered a trauma to the head should be examined for cranial (head, face and jaw) bone misalignments.
  • Anyone who has suffered head trauma during their birth process should be examined for cranial bone misalignments. . Instruments such as forceps, suction, and vacuum extractors are common causes of misaligned cranial bones.  Not surprisingly, many of the patients examined at our office have suffered lifelong health problems because they were never aware of their birth trauma.

Anyone who has any of the following health concerns should also be evaluated to see if cranial adjusting could be of benefit to him or her.

  • ADD, ADHD
  • Allergies
  • Asthma
  • Autism
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Dyslexia
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Headaches
  • Learning difficulties
