Dr. Larry Bagnell was stricken with this disease in the summer of 2003.  The Bagnell's daughter had Lyme Disease  when she was only 2 years old.  Their recovery tells a remarkable story that is shared below on this page.  Please read the amazing journey through health and wellness.

DR. BAGNELL'S STORY:

July 24-25, 2003 Thursday-Friday - I was stricken with Lyme Disease. I was cleaning some branches up in the yard in Wrightstown, PA and noticed a mouse scurrying through the leaves.  I didn’t think much of it at the time and continued to prepare for my daughters 6th birthday party.

July 26-27, 2003 Saturday– Sunday - I started to feel weak and confused. My body started to ache. I thought the soreness was from yard work days before. My symptoms included joint pains, muscle spasms especially between my shoulder blades crawling up toward my neck. It felt like I had the FLU virus. Treatment started on July 24 with chiropractic adjustments and homeopathy.

July 28 2003 Monday- symptoms were slightly improved from treatment. I had a full day of work scheduled. By mid morning pain was back with a vengeance. I thought I really over did it chopping wood the days earlier. I applied a TENS unit (muscle stim.) to deaden the pain between my neck and mid back. I thought I had meningitis with electrical pains now in my arms and fingers. Every time I turned my neck I had shooting pains.  That night I continued with the same course of treatment.

July 29, 2003 Tuesday- my symptoms stayed the same as the previous morning. As the day ran into night I could barely hold up my head. I also noticed at this time a red round rash on my thigh. It was very hard to see as well for my vision was beginning to be affected. Slurred speech and difficult hearing caused concerns of Stroke. Dr. Karen was asked to evaluate the rash and Lyme disease was confirmed.

July 30, 2003 WED– The next day I called a local physician and asked to be evaluated for Lymes based on Dr. Karen’s diagnosis & mine. Big surprise, they confirmed the same. They prescribed an antibiotic and I maintain chiropractic care plus natural remedies to combat the spirochete of Lyme. I also took acidophilus to make sure the antibiotic didn’t destroy the normal bacteria in my digestive tract. The rest of the day I felt horrible. High-grade fever, aches, pains, and chills. I ate when I was hungry and drank plenty of fluids.

July 31, 2003 Thursday – (The light at the end of the tunnel) I started to feel improvement over the infection. Appetite started to improve but still had weakness.

August 1, 2003 Friday- Greater improvement on this day. I took a day to rest and heal.

By Monday August 4, 2003, I was back to work at 100%. This event has changed my life and has given me knowledge to share with those affect by Lyme. I still keep up on the latest advancements in detecting and treating Lyme.  Look for future updates on this topic.

To date there are a few treatments we are aware of:
